You are fortunate to have a rehab center. Here in Canada, at least in British Columbia, unless you are attending post secondary education institution, you do not have the ability to obtain anything unless you pay for it out of pocket. If cats always land on their feet and buttered toast always lands buttered side down, what happens if you dropped a cat that was connected to the buttered toast?

That's exactly how I obtained my PC system with JAWS. My rehab teacher at Helen Keller National Center argued successfully to the NY Commission for the Blind and Handicapped that I needed a talking PC system to achieve more independence as a homemaker. But, truth be told, I am the first and only person for whom the CBVH made such an exception. Most states still will not pay for the cost of a talking computer system unless it is required to fulfill specific educational or vocational objectives, not personal enrichment.
