Gary and Tom, I suspect that hitting the tab key resets the shortcut to Ctrl+Alt+Tab. That's why a single character (or a shifted character) will work. Then if you want to verify, route JAWS to cursor and look at the result -- or just hit the enter key to save the result. For Some reason, pressing Tab to get to the OK button can destroy the shortcut. Now, I have another issue to solve: Since I can now use notepad, I want to make a shortcut for it. However, whenever I go to my start menu, find notepad, hit my applications key, go to properties, and try to enter alt control n as my shortcut, Jaws doesn't let me do it. It says alt control +, and won't let me put the N in there to complete the key combination.I know there are no other alt control N shortcuts on this computer, so I'mbaffled as to why Jaws won't let me do the shortcut. I have had this problem with other applications, and sometimes need sighted assistance to correct the problem.Any suggestions about how to resolve this issue would be appreciated, andthen, I should be all set for a while. Just for info, I'm using Windows XP here with Jaws 10.0. Thanks! This might be as simple as not having word wrap turned on in Notepad. In notepad, press alt+o to get into the format menu, and the first thing you should hear is "word wrap". If Jaws doesn't say "checked", hit enter to check it and turn word wrap on.
