accessing a protected pdf document

Hello,
I've downloaded two books from sites on the net. One sitepoint the
other realtimenexis, the former i paid for the second was free. Both are in
pdf format, i believe the version is 1.6. I've tried this with both jfw
10.512 and the new jfw 11 beta. One of the documents the sitepoint doc opens
and the pages are blank, the realtimenexis doc opens, both registered as
secured, and it outputs gargled text when read with the virtual cursor. If i
review the screen with the jfw cursor i see clear text. A suggestion was to
enter a password yet i am never prompted to do so.
Suggestions welcome.
