Scientific is not, as much as it benefits the blind, a philanthropic
organization. It is a business, and if it is to continue to thrive and
produce innovative products, it must make a profit. This is a statement of
fact. I do not deny them a lion's share of the blind market as they have
contributed significantly to the quality of my life. My comment was
flippant. With some degree of humility, I thought that it was funny and
clever. If we are devoid of humor, what has blindness done to us? Robbed
us of our humanity?
