Bruce,

Don't you think there's some room here for a consensus opinion?

Yes, list management as you put it could make all the decisions without
consulting those of us who use the list. However, when that happens too
frequently, what we end up with all too often is a split, and a new list
formed by those dissatisfied, which makes it all the more difficult for
all of us. It also ignores those of us who volunteer a lot of time to
try and help others with the answers we provide. Without such
volunteers, the list simply becomes a long sequence of unanswered
questions.

I agree with you that not every piece of software that can be used with
jaws makes the problem a jaws issue. I also think you'll find most
folks will agree with that position as well, so you should end up at the
same place. But asking for public comment may help avoid problems that
eventually lead to these list splits, while not actually changing the
outcome.

When we see someone who isn't following the consensus guidelines, I also
think it's helpful to tell them the proper place for such questions (or
at least some definite options), instead of just simply saying "you'll
be thrown off the list if you continue".

So much for my 2 cents worth anyway.
