Hi Ray,

Freezing in contacts when using a screen reader happens when the preview pane
in windows explorer is shown. Changing the folder type from contacts to all
items is one way of hiding the preview pane, since by default the preview pane
is not shown when the folder type is all items.

However, changing the folder type to all items has two drawbacks. Firstly the
column headings are changed, and are no longer ones that are most suitable for
contacts, and secondly the buttons on the toolbar are changed, and no longer
include the new contact list button. Using this button is the only way of
creating a contact list.

A better way of hiding the preview pane is to go to windows explorer's folder
options dialog, and set the tasks group of radio buttons to use windows classic
folders. Setting this option hides the preview and details panes in folders of
all types.

David.

One more point I wish to add. This is critically important. When you first
enter contacts from Windows Mail, you must, (without using arrow keys to
select anything), press alt+v for view menu. From there, choose customize this
folderr. From that point, choose all items. IF you do not do this, you will
not be able to navigate in your contacts list.

Sincerely,
The Constantly BAREFOOTED Ray
