There was a possible work around (e.g. deleting the two files specified previously), however, the Freedom Scientific tech support agent I spoke with this morning was hesitant to officially recommend I remove these two files. I'm not saying it wouldn't work or that it definitely hasn't helped other people who have experienced this issue. But by completely removing JFW8, I actually managed to fix another slight annoyance that had cropped up in the last week or so since updating to 8.0.2107. I know I hadn't modified any of my script files, at least not knowingly or intentionally. But for me, the error is fixed and I can get back to work. My job relies largely on the ability to corespond with co-workers via email since I work from home. Thanks to everyone who helped me out and gave suggestions! The unknown script error occurred when the default script files were updated 
with one of the updates for Jaws 8. If I remember correctly, it was one of
the updates after version 8.0.423.

If you have made any changes to the default script file or have default
files in your personal user settings folder, this will create the problem.
As outlined earlier, all you have to do is delete the default files found in 
your user settings folder to correct the problem.

This problem will only occur if script files are updated and you have made
changes or have a copy of these files in your user settings folder.

Did the tech support explain what causes this error?  I'm trying to
understand
why this happens and if it's a guaranteed to happen when you update from
8.0.1177 to 8.0.210, or if it only happens for a particular reason.

The error I was experiencing for the past 2 days was finally fixed. I did
indeed
have to uninstall Jaws8, remove all shared components and user settings, and 

finally reinstall everything. When I spoke with Freedom Scientific's tech
support this morning I inquired as to whether or not they would be releasing 
any
further updates for JAWS8 and was informed that as of now it is unclear.
However, they are working on higher builds of the software. Thanks to those 
who
emailed and sent a message to the list with helpful suggestions for my
error!
