First, Sound Forge does not do multi-track editing. Adobe Audition version
1.5, which I just got today, does do multi-track editing, and, the new
scripts for it make it possible now to use this program with JAWS. You can
fine the scripts over at:
http://www.kulgan.net/mick/programming/jfwscripts/.

be sure to click on the adobe Audition link when you get to the page.

The page even has instructions for the work around for a focus issue which
Adobe Audition has...a slight modification of default.jss. The work around
is very simple and it really works. Adobe Audition itself costs $299.00.
With this program, you get not only a multi-track editor, you get a 5.1
channel encoder which can encode in Windows Media 9 5.1 channel sound as
well as interleaved.wav files. Those are six channel .wav files which you
need a 5.1 channel or better sound card to play. Not to mention which, you
have at your disposal a fine selection of noise reduction, hiss reduction
and click and pop suppression tools which work very well.

Another program, which I am assured works very well with JAWS, is called
Sonar. IF you get the producer version, you also get a multi-track editor,
a 5.1 channel encoder and other nice stuff too. The scripts for Sonar are
$200.00 or so;, and, I'm told they come with the tutorials for using the
program with JAWS. Just two excellent choices for what you need.

Subject: SoundForge or other audio editting programs

Hello,

I want to do some multi-track recording/mixing/editting. Of course, I
looked at sound forge, but wonder if there's another good, jaws friendly
program for this purpose?

I see that SoundForge is up to version 7 now. Do the jaws supplied scripts
work for that version? Does the Snowman's scripts work on this version?
What's the best, in your opinion, program for recording, editting and mixing
multiple audio tracks.

Thanks in advance,

Phil Halton
