I think it comes down to personal preference. IT's not that I don't know how to file manage, but I just prefer to export the file an know where it saves. It's not like i have a 10GB hard drive.

But Brandon, if that file already exists, which it does, then what's the point of using this function from within OE or Outlook? I don't mean I'magainst it; let's not start arguing. I'm really asking, is this just sort ofa convenience for someone who doesn't know how to do file management in Windows? Sort of? I still don't get the way in which the word "export" is being used, frankly. The intuitive thing is to think that must meansomething about sending a copy of the address book to another email programso you don't have to recreate it if you're beginning to use another emailprogram that doesn't work the same way, or something. Anybody know what I'masking? Sorry if it's not well phrased.----- Original Message ----- From: "Brandon B" <serrebi101@xxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2007 11:31 AM Subject: Re: Saving address book in outlook express basicly you get a save as dialogue where you can specify where to put the file so you can back it up. So it's easy for you to back it up for if you format, etc. HOpe this explains what you want! brandon msn: serrebitranceaddict@xxxxxxxxxxx skype: serrebi2006 mercora page: http://search.mercora.com/v6/rssSearch.jsp?5@m@Scott+Brown+Ft+DMO@m@serrebi101@r@352@r@0@r@Scott+Brown+Ft+DMO@r@just+walk+away@r@Trance@r@just+walk+away...----- Original Message ----- From: "Yardbird" <yardbird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2007 11:28 AM Subject: Re: Saving address book in outlook expressIn what sense does this result in "saving" the address book? How does"export" come to eequate with "save," in this case? What actually happens, and where is the Address Book saved, and in what form? Are we just talkingabout the file that the address book is? That would be address book.wab, typed exactly like that, and if you find it, wherever you happen to keep it on your hard drive, you can copy it just like any other folder. Meantime, the Address Book that you know in Outlook or Outlook Express is saved every time you make any changes to it, and by that I mean the file I just mentioned is updated and saved.I confess I've never learned the meaning of the concept of "exporting" and"importing" email program stuff, but this much is true, that the Address Book is simply a file. materiprolgram if youoes----- Original Message ----- From: "Brandon B" <serrebi101@xxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2007 11:00 AM Subject: Re: Saving address book in outlook express go to tools, and go to address book.
