If you open your existing version of Quicktime and go to Help on the menu bar do you have an "update existing software" option? If so I would update it that way. Although I can't say for sure about uninstalling the old version fist the fact that you can update from the program itself leads me to believe you can just install the new version over the top of the old version. ________________________________ From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Don Moore Sent: Wednesday, April 09, 2008 7:20 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: QuickTime; was: jaws 8.0 for mp3 Hi Eric, I noticed that I have QuickTime 6.5.2 installed on my PC, so I did as you suggested and downloaded the installer file for QuickTime 7.4.5 My question: Should I uninstall the older version first and then run the new installer? Or, should I just run the new installer without first uninstalling the older version? This download is free and will allow you to listen to Quicktime audio and movie files. You can not download the audio file you want to listen to unless you purchase the Professional version of Quicktime. Once you have installed Quicktime go back to 911 call from 5-year-old Tyrone Burden <http://www.charleston.net/audioclips/44/> and see if you have better luck. ________________________________ From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of addison gethers Sent: Tuesday, April 08, 2008 9:26 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: jaws 8.0 for mp3 Hello Eric, I have try to get the audio clip from the newspaper ,it's say Audio files on Charleston.net are in MP3 format. I get a message from my Quicktime player I have loaded on my computer asking if I want to change file associations. I click NO. 3. After I click NO the page loads and the embedded Quicktime player is know available you, can now press the space bar or press Enter on your keyboard to activate the player. 4. The audio doesn't play by default so you have to interact with the Quicktime player and push play. I'm not sure of all of the JAWS commands to do all of this. ________________________________ From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of addison gethers Sent: Tuesday, April 08, 2008 8:40 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: jaws 8.0 for mp3 Hello Eric, Where did you find the audio file in the website? I think from about Windows ME this programme came preinstalled and thus you were able to play MP3's and many other audio/video files out of the box. However, if you don't like Windows Media Player, then you can go to www.winamp.com and download a copy of Winamp. You could also go to www.vuplayer.com and download their free and very accessible player, simply called VuPlayer. Hope that helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: addison gethers <mailto:OAG1ROTTIE@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: Jaws 2-jfw <mailto:jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, April 05, 2008 6:57 PM Subject: jaws 8.0 for mp3 Hello all, I need your help please ,I don't know where to find the mp3 software where I need to download in my computer ,because I'm trying to listen to audio clip from the newspaper ,it's say Audio files on Charleston.net are in MP3 format.
