David, Have you considered also subscribing to the MIDI-Mag list? There are a lot of music production and performance blind users who discuss all sorts of products like Sonar, Pro Tracks, and I've seen Audacity mentioned. But you have some perspective that might be very welcome. You can subscribe via the following site: http://www.midimag.org/ Dave----- Original Message ----- From: "David Bailes" <david_bailes@xxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: January 19, 2009 3:37 AM Subject: Re: Question about audacity Hi, The automatic latency correction, which trys to get tracks in sinc, has recently been improved, so if you're using a version before 1.3.6, it'sworth you updating to the current version 1.3.6. In fact version 1.3.7 willprobably be released within the next couple of weeks, so you might want towait. Note also that version 1.3.5 had some bugs in the keyboard navigation,so it's definitly worth upgrading from that. If the automatic latency correction is still not good enough, you can can time shift tracks. In the Jaws guide for audacity which has been mentionedin other posts, in the More advanced editing section, there's a sub-sectionon time shifting tracks. If you've needed to manually time shift tracks, then once you know the timeshift needed, you can set this in the preferences so that it then happens automatically. If you select the Audio I/O category in the Preferences dialog (ctrl+p), then there's a Latency correction edit box, and the units are milliseconds. David. orginal message: Hello All,I'm a new subscriber of this list. I'm using windows xp and jaws versions 9and10. I have a question for all the people who use audacity which is supposedto be an accessible recording software. I'm trying to record multiple tracks, andwhen I add a track, or just press R, it seems to be recording them in sink. However, when I press space to play them back, or r to record another track, they have about a second delay between each track which consequently placesthem out of sink. Is there a way I can fix the settings in audacity to automatically keep the tracks I record in sink because I can't figure it out. Some help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you know of any other accessible multi-track recorders which I canuse, please let me know. I'm using goldwave to edit and record sounds, but it is not a multi-track recorder. Thanks again.
