Just a note: A friend of mine mistakenly downloaded the AVG Spyware program instead of the Anti virus program, and it is indeed a time trial version.

Robert,I've been using AVG Free Edition, and in the course of things, I used to goto the Grisoft site regularly (when you had to download each definition update manually), and I don't recall ever seeing anything about a trial version. The Free Edition is, I'm pretty certain, meant to serve in that capacity for anyone who shies away from the full, paid version at first, but then, it's hoped, will see its advantages after familiarizing themselves with the Free Edition. It's something else that must've caused the problem and the confusion, because there's confusion in the story. Ihope she's got it worked out, now. It's not a huge hassle, once you becomeclear about how to install it and use it.----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert McCoy" <rmccoy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, November 02, 2006 11:34 PM Subject: RE: Query about AVG Free Edition v. 7.5 with JawsSounds like you may have installed the trial version, not the free version.Robert McCoy St. Thomas University - Sociology D104 James Dunn Hall Work: (506) 452-0423 Home: 506-459-6636 -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of marissa.hendry Sent: Thursday, November 02, 2006 10:24 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Query about AVG Free Edition v. 7.5 with JawsJAWS didn't seem to want to co-operate at all! When I tabbed it wouldn't do anything so there didn't seem to be any options to allow one to do anything about it and the only thing it would read on the line was the bit about thedeadline approaching. I tried closing it but although it said close it didn't and then after I did some other things to find out what it was itwent into this part of the website I mentioned. Why does one have to pay toget the new version, even if we had the free one before! I think that's a bit cheeky and out of order when companies do this sort of thing more andmore. That way they could lose customers because people will find one thatis still free from another company that's as good or better. I have to guess that if you'd been quick on the draw and managed to press control b to read the dialogue, or switch to the Jaws cursor to read it as this was happening, you'd have seen the entire message and not be mystified. But I can see it all happened too fast. Maybe someone else is familiar with this sort of event?----- Original Message ----- From: "marissa.hendry" <marissa.hendry@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, November 02, 2006 5:54 PM Subject: Query about AVG Free Edition v. 7.5 with Jaws My AVG today came up with a message saying something about a deadline nearly being up and then it went into their control centre but didn't go automatically to any update, even though it usually does them automatically. The upgrades and things I did find, it suggested they were all ones one has to buy. Does anyone know more about this? Since downloading and installing the latest version of AVG Free Edition not long ago, I've been pleasantly surprised to find that it's more Jaws friendly than any previous version has been. I am using Jaws v. 7.0. When I launch AVG's control center from my task tray to perform any task or make any setting I've concerned myself with so far, it actually behaves nearly as well as a major application like Wordor Outlook Express. I can tab around from control to control crisply andaccurately and everything else. I should knock wood or something, because maybe I'll try to adjust some setting one of these days and find myself wrestling with the Jaws cursor again and trying to figure it out with a lot of frustration. But so far, it's looking better than ever, which is a very welcome relief. -- JFW related links: JFW homepage: http://www.freedomscientific.com/ Scripting mailing list: http://lists.the-jdh.com/listinfo.cgi/scriptography-the-jdh.com JFW List instructions: To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
