Robert,
I've been using AVG Free Edition, and in the course of things, I used to go
to the Grisoft site regularly (when you had to download each definition
update manually), and I don't recall ever seeing anything about a trial
version. The Free Edition is, I'm pretty certain, meant to serve in that
capacity for anyone who shies away from the full, paid version at first,
but then, it's hoped, will see its advantages after familiarizing
themselves with the Free Edition. It's something else that must've caused
the problem and the confusion, because there's confusion in the story. I
hope she's got it worked out, now. It's not a huge hassle, once you become
clear about how to install it and use it.

Sounds like you may have installed the trial version, not the free version.

JAWS didn't seem to want to co-operate at all! When I tabbed it wouldn't do
anything so there didn't seem to be any options to allow one to do anything
about it and the only thing it would read on the line was the bit about the
deadline approaching. I tried closing it but although it said close it
didn't and then after I did some other things to find out what it was it
went into this part of the website I mentioned. Why does one have to pay to
get the new version, even if we had the free one before! I think that's a
bit cheeky and out of order when companies do this sort of thing more and
more. That way they could lose customers because people will find one that
is still free from another company that's as good or better.

From Marissa.
