Okay I have 15 minutes before we go to run our errand. I will make brief
comments on each.
MacAfee suite.
With the script change I made, the MacAfee firewall really isn't that bad
now that the pop up windows are announced. It now it is easy to access the
list of programs and change the allow, block, or other actions for an
application. As far as the antivirus, it is easy to run a scan. But one
thing I didn't like is when scanning there is no type of progress bar, just
the file being scanned, so you have no idea how long it is going to take.

Norton internet security.
I had used Norton for years. But this time when my subscription ran out, I
decided to look around. I am not going to go with Norton again. I really
do feel like it really bogs down your system. I mean I just put it back on
to answer the question asked earlier, and I can already tell a big
difference, especially with boot up time.

Zone Alarm Pro. You have to be kidding. Not jaws friendly to put it mildly, immediately removed it.

Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security.
You know this was the latest one I tried and I found it jaws friendly, much
to my surprise and delight.
I didn't like the anti-spam program, but the AV and firewall both were easy
enough to use with Jaws. I didn't feel like ti was bogging down my system,
and the firewall was not obtrusive like some firewall programs are.

eTrust EZ armor.
I like the AV and it is jaws friendly and easy to do a full scan or a custom
scan. The pop up window is accessible in the firewall, although doesn't
read as well as some other firewall programs, and it is hard to find the
programs to change the firewall setting in the configuration window. I like
the antispam feature the best of all the ones I have tried.

Now I forgot to mention windows live one care. I tried it for a few weeks,
and it is jaws friendly and a good program, although there is not as much
experience with it out there. If I were going to spend money on a new
suite, I might choose this. But I don't think I need to buy anything right
now, ha ha.

Bruce, I have never tried NOD32, but I have only heard good things about it.

So what am I going to go with? I'm probably going to go with eTrust.
Probably just use the AV, pest patrol, and the anti-spam. I trust my router
and don't necessarily feel the need for a firewall to be honest.
One reason for choosing this though, is because road runner is offering it
free to road runner customers. So I figure if I go with one of the others,
I will eventually have to pay for subscription updates. Since eTrust works
well enough with jaws, and road runner offers it, I probably will choose to
go with it.
So sorry, that is probably not very helpful for you in making your choice.

Debbie

Debbie, If you are not using Norton now, what program did you switch to?
