Hi:
I spoke to Eric Damery on Friday and he assured me If I and you download and
install the latest version of JAWS 6.1 it will take care of the most of the
crashes. Because of the length of the file and I am on a dial-up I haven't
had a chance to download it yet.
HTH,
George R. Marshall

This is just an idea but could it be that when XP seems to freeze what is
really happening is JAWS is either hiding or doesn't know how to react.
Since it is in the video chain it could cause a computer to lock up. I have
had the same thing happen and have more than one version of JAWS on here. I
am not able to load that either. This seems to me more of a problem with
the newer versions so something must have been changed in the JAWS
scripting. The older version of JAWS that I have on here does not have the
same freeze up problems.
