Yes, sorry, I should have mentioned that I've done both those things and still get just the text. I even tried the print preview, and showing the ruler and grid lines under toolbars, but nothing changed. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dean Martineau" <dean@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

You didn't mention this, so I have to ask if you made sure you put Word into
normal, or draft view. The view setting comes with the document and I
suspect those documents were in print view. Also making sure Word is
maximized and using insert-up arrow to read the current line. Chances are
you already thought of all this but these are things that need to be
eliminated just in case they solve the problem.

Subject: Microsoft Word , reading text outside document margins with JAWS 9

Hi everyone,

I'm a law student and often have to cite court documents with both page
and line numbers. The depositions I used for my last assignment were Word
documents with line numbers running down the left of the page, presumably
outside the margins. The PC cursor doesn't read them, so the only way I
could find to cite the documents properly was to get to the correct passage with the PC cursor and then read the line numbers with the JAWS cursor. Is
there any way to have the PC cursor read that kind of thing along with the
text so I don't have to switch back and forth? Is there a view or toolbar in

Word that might do the trick? I use Word 2007, but the documents in question

were typed in Word 2003, if that's relevant. Thanks for any feedback you can

provide.
