This is borderline off topic, so feel free to reply off list. My colleagues at work virtually all use Blackberry hand-held personal data assistants ("PDA's"). I must confess that I have been somewhat envious. So, I did some searching on the Web for PDA's for the blind. Of course, I found the Pack Mate, which we all know has jaws loaded on it. The Pack Mate, however, is almost as big as my laptop. So, why bother? A company called Visuaide (I never heard of them before) is supposed to start selling in September something it calls the Maestro, a modified HP I PAQ which appears to be truly palm-sized. The Visuaide site, in addition to various other products, also offers JAWS. I tried contacting the Visuaide distributor, but there was very little information to be had. Does anyone know if the Maestro runs JAWS or a modified version of JAWS? The Maestro was supposedly demonstrated at the Atlanta conventions last month. For anyone who checked it out, did it appear to be running JAWS? The Maestro appears to be competitive with the FS Pack Mate, so, from the standpoint of pure logic, its use of JAWS would seem unlikely, but stranger things have been known to happen, and there does seem to be some kind of relationship between FS and Visuaide. It seems I just got used to JAWS, as opposed to WindowEyes commands. I would rather not learn a bunch of commands just so I can use a PDA.
