Hi,
I have the same version of JAWS and the same soundcard. I also have the same
basic issue you're having. My sound will crackle and the sound will be gone.
I've seen others on the Web (mostly Dell users) with similar audio problems
with that soundcard.
I've got no real answer for you. Updating the driver didn't help and I
played with as many settings as I could find. I worked around the problem by
running JAWS through a USB headset, while running all other sound through
non-USB speakers or headphones. It actually works out well for me. If I
don't want to use the speakers for music, etc., I put my USB headphones over
a pair of non-USB ear buds. My wife calls it one of my hillbilly fixes.

I believe that, in my case, JAWS works best with a dedicated soundcard, and
I will probably replace the USB solution at some point.
Hopefully, someone else on this list has a better answer.
