Re: JAWS needs to work with larger displays

When someone needs to see large print the focus should be getting a large print
magnification program (such as Magic or Zoomtext) which can also have speech.
Expecting a speech-only program such as JAWS to function properly with very
huge letters is not really an effective way to use a computer. If it was, none
of us partially sighted people would need these magnification systems. While it
would be nice if there was a "one program fits all" it's not going to happen.
When the emphasis is on large print, the thinking is that the user won't need
quite the full array of controls that JAWS would offer, shifting performance to
enlarging video instead. Maybe one day there will be an all-inclusive program
that would do it all, but for right now the best we can do is pick our
priorities according to our own need. Does this make sense to you?
Best regards,

Bill Powers
