Hi,

It pauses as if it found a comma. Not too much of a pause to be disruptive, but enough to catch my attention.

Stefen,
I haven't updated yet and this interests me, because there are punctuations
that should change the pace of speaking a little more than they do, in the
version I'm running. I've often been disappointed and felt misled by Jaws
just racing through punctuation marks of that sort unless I actually set it
to say them aloud, which of course is pretty unnatural unless you're doing
some copy editing and need to hear those things, as I sometimes do.

Just how long is the pause you've noticed? Is it that you find it *too* long
for your comfort?

thanks.

I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this, but the update seems to have
changed the way JAWS handles semicolons as well. They now pause the speech.

Well, I'm running the latest update on a Vista machine running business
edition service pack 1, and it's working absolutely perfectly here.

Before I updated my JAWS, I updated my laptop's audio drivers, and this
newest JAWS update seems to have gone a long way to curing a problem I had
wherein JAWS and Outlook 07 seemed to crash and thrash and kick one
another
around until neither one worked. I've not had a single Outlook error
since
the update.

Also, the update of JAWS and the update of my audio drivers ended a
strange
experience I kept having with eloquence where the voice seemed to pop in
and
out--how do I describe this? Kind of like turning it on and off quickly
at
the end of a word. It sounded a bit like someone unkeying a radio
transmitter milliseconds after finishing talking. The words were kind of
clipped--never so badly that I couldn't understand anything, but the audio
drivers update and the JAWS update in combination seem to have ended that
clipping as well.

I won't sermonize, but suffice it to say that I've sure relearned my
lesson
about the value of updating drivers!

Regards,

Nolan
