Whoops. I spoke too soon. I see now that the reason this surprised me is
because, under the Settings menu in configuration Manager, as I arrow up and
down the list of options, there *is* no submenu Miscellaneous. I know you
called it a tab, and in fact, although mystified by that, I tried to control
tab once I opened the settings menu, of course nothing happened except that
I was taken down whatever list of options I was in at the time.
Please explain, where is this Miscellaneous section? I'm assuming you mean
it should be in the menu along with User options, HTML Options, Verbosity
Options, etc., yes?

In configuration manager, control tab to the miscellaneous page. Tab to
"ignore flash" and check the checkbox. It is right after active X. Tab
to OK and enter.

Here's a question:
I'm using Jaws 7. In order to stop getting annoying Windows warning
sounds
and requests to download and install Flash, I gave in and allowed it to
download and install. But now Flash movies are getting in the way of my
being able to smoothly read something like a New York Times article,
just as
used to happen to me in Jaws 4.5, and for which I had no workaround then
except to desperately hope that the little movie things would be of
short
duration and that I could arrow down past their Start and End buttons or
whatever those are.
So, I figured, this is where I ought to do what you've done-- set Jaws
to
ignore the Flash stuff even though it's playing on the Web page.
So I went into Configuration Manager, hunted through several settings
categories, and couldn't find the option for ignoring Flash. Now, is
there
actually such a setting, or do you mean you went to the Internet
Explorer
options, probably in the advanced tab, and set something there?

Speaking of Flash, have you or anybody else noticed a problem with JFW
version 7 and web pages which use Flash?
In spite of having my JAWS config manager set to ignore Flash on web
pages,
I am finding that Flash is interfering with web pages loading, and I
sometimes get a pop-up asking me to download Flash. JFW 5.1 doesn't have
this problem.
