Hi Mitch,

Why are you getting hostile? I wasn't even responding to your post,
wherever it is. Wow. I though people were asking about how to double delta
with one stroke when they *first* deleted a message, not asking how to clear
out the deleted items folder. I wasn't reacting to your perfectly correct
notification that there's this command in the Files menu. To me, that's a
different question than asking how to permanently delete a message right
form the Inbox, to start with. No? If you don't think so, fine.tba
Although why a person wouldn't look through his or her program menus in the
firs place is a little iffy, to me, but whatever. Anyway, no reason to snap
at me. Honest.
Besides which, I could swear I recently had a perfectly friendly exchange
with you in private email about something, didn't I? What is all this
nastiness? Telling me not to reply to an email to the list? I'm confused.

This is not a flame, just an observation that you once again missed my
point.
I simply pointed out that it is easy to dump the accumulated messages that
might rest in the Deleted Messages folder with the keystroke I mentioned.
Please resist the urge to reply further. Mitch

Hi all,

You know, just pressing the delete key simmply deletes a message from the
Inbox or any other folder in the email program. Of course pressing Delete
alone doesnt "double delete" it, but pressing shift delete will do that,
even providing you with a chance to retract the move in case it was
accidental, just as in Windows explorer. I don't understand why, just
because the program offers control D in its Files menu for the purpose,
which has always seemed to me, up front, a grattuitous redundancy, this
should obscure the fact that the delete key still performs normally. Which
it does. No flaming, please. Press whichever keys make you happiest to
press.
Thanks.

Hi, This may be well known by all but to quickly dump the messages in the
Deleted Messages Folder just hit Alt plus the letter E key followed by the
letter Y key twice.
This is not exactly what you wanted of course but it is slightly related.

  Hello Judith,

I tried control + D and that only sends it to the deleted folder so you
might be right. If I do find a keystroke that does what I want it to do, I
will let you know.

  Take care,

  John

To the best of my knowledge, no such keystroke exists and I don't think
that those who use a mouse can perform this function either. If you don't
want it to hang around go to your deleted items folder, delete it and enter
on yes when they ask you if you are sure. Judith

    Hello,

Does anyone know the keystroke to delete an email from you inbox and
keep it from being saved in the deleted items folder? I am using Outlook
2002 and XP Home.

    Take care,

    John
