hi. As I posted to the Winamp4TheBlind list I run, unfortunately these updated scripts do not work well at all on my system. In fact, they seem to have broken some of the other scripts included before, most notably the speak total time of the currently playing track and the elapsed time of the currently playing track, as well as a few other things like speak status of stop before next track. Those were the only things I found. Since i make great use of these functions in my broadcasting, I could not very well keep these scripts. So, luckily for me, I had a previous version of JAWS on my system, which I went backto and copied the scripts over to 7.0 which is what I use currently. So folks, if you try these scripts, it would be a very good idea for anyone trying out these to copy the current ones into a folder on your hard drive. That way if something bad happens as it did on my system here, you can go back. I did and the scripts work again just as they did before. Note that before reverting back to the other scripts, I recompiled the scripts and closed and restarted JAWS in hopes that this would do the trick. However, they just did not work for me, sorry to say.
Just thought I would share my experiences. I hope some of you have better luck than me!

HI Jim,

Thanks for thinking of us. The truth is that we have always been in favour of script development / updates. All we asked was that the necessary credits be given for any prior work on the updated scripts and that we can get access to them. So you haven't stepped on any toes at all. With regards to FS, since we gave them permission to use our scripts in the distribution of Jaws, any updates if made by other contributors and if that contributor wanted their updates to be included in the Jaws distribution then we felt it'd be better if they got in contact with FS directly as they were more in a position to explain their updates in detail.

I hope that explains our position clearly enough.

here they are

hi I sent them to Bruce he will send them to you.
I also sent them to debby who will post them on her site in the mean time. as far as fs goes if you wish I will contact them how ever these are your scripts not mine so I personally thought I would contact you first to see if you wanted these changes posted.
I also hope that by updating these scripts I have not stepped on your tows in any way. after all they are your scripts and I had no way of contacting you to request consent before updating them. my only defense for this action of updating with out consent is I was sick of not being able to use my library. I do hope this helps. and if you would like me to contact fs instead of you doing it after you give these changes your ok I will do so.
thanks.

Hi Jim,

If you want your updated Winamp scripts to be included with the Jaws distribution then contact Freedom Scientific. they handle all updates for our Winamp Scripts. I can certainly put your updated scripts on our Winamp scripts home page as well. I won't be able to do anything for a couple of weeks as I will be in Spartanburg South Carolina playing with the Australian team in the upcoming Goalball World Championships. But feel free to send them to me.

note the below does not mean every one start asking me for the updated winamp scripts.
I have updated the winamp scripts so that the on line services work and there is a key to move threw the option in the winamp media library. this command is f6 and it works a lot like windows help. I have also updated the scripts so focus is not moved away from the tree view tell you choose another frame with the f6 command. also the virtual buffer now works for html controls in the library. so you can use the html browsing features of jaws. now what I need is where and to whom to send these scripts to so they can be used by other jaws users.
I want to speak to David directly. I do not want to send these scripts a thousand times to everyone who might want them. please the makers of the winamp scripts contact me with directions.
