for information's sake,

1. windows mail more resembles outlook express and doesn't carry the "live"
interconductivity and cross application interplay of windows live mail. its
already on the computer inside of windows 7, and I have a kit on my grab bag
site that will allow you to re-invoke it so its usable again.

2. yes, M.S. outlook can be bought as a stand alone application, and I may be
able to put anyone who wants it in contact with someone who can get them a
legitimate copy for a discounted price.

3. and don't forget that the last version of Eudora also works with windows 7
and jaws.

  Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for your information. Until or unless I learn that Windows Mail is
definitely better than Windows Live Mail, I think I’ll stick with what I’m
using.

I have a new laptop on order. It will have MS Office Small Business Edition
on it, which includes Outlook, and the Outlook will be set up for e-mail. So
I’ll have a chance to try it out.

You can make windows mail work with 7, but I’m not sure how to do it. I
personally wasn’t impressed at all with windows live mail, but then I tried it
with Window Eyes and not JAWS. Personally I prefer out look, but was told I’m
crazy.

I do believe that you can purchase outlook by itself, if not you could
upgrade your office package. There is also Thunderbird, but the setup and new
layout takes a little learning and can be frustrating at first. It does work
well though.

  Hi,

I have Windows 7 Home Premium, JAWS 12, purchased about 3 months ago.

What is the difference between Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail? For 3
months I have been using Windows Live Mail. The retailer set it up to be the
active e-mail client when I purchased the machine. It behaves very much like
Outlook Express, with some differences that still annoy me occasionally. My PC
has Windows Mail on it, but it won’t run.

My JAWS retailer recommends MS Outlook, but the MS Office 2010 Home and
Student edition that I have doesn’t include it.

  Can anyone offer any suggestions?

  TIA

  Ian

Well, I am a proud owner of windows life mail and I must say, I found it
easier to work with than outlook express ever was. Don't take my word for it.
Mess around with it a bit. You will get the hang of it very fast. Now, one
complain I have is that I can't use first letter navigation. A shame really.

  David,

Following your instructions, I found Windows Mail on my Windows 7 Home
Premium system. Before going to the trouble of trying to get it to work,
however, I would like to know how well it works with JFW 12. I don't see it in
the Supported Programs list. I do see Windows Live Mail listed, but don't
really know how well it works either. I know that there are third-party
scripts for Thunderbird, but haven't heard many comments about them on this
list.

While I am deciding which email program to try on Windows 7, I am still using
my old faithful Outlook Express on my XP system.

Any comments on the email programs I've mentioned are welcome. I am using
JFW 12 Build 522.

    Hello John;

first, the registry tweak is for windows mail, which is very similar to OE.

to find windows mail on a windows 7 machine,

    do the following.

    1, computer/hard drive "c",

    P=programs,

now press the letter "w" until you hear windows mail,

    there is the folder.

as for where you can find the documentation?

I could send to you if you wish.

David, Where do you find the documentation for installation of this
outlook express program and which registry items to change or modify?

      thank you.

      John

      Hello there;

      well, just so you no,

with a couple registry tweaks, you can use windows mail, which is a very
similar to OE.

      in fact,

      if you go to,

      computer, your c drive,

      then programs,

then press the letter "p" a few times, you will hear/see,

      windows mail.

as I indicated, with a few registry tweaks, you can get this email client
working on the machine.

      have a good day.

I don't know about OE, but there is no windows mail on win7. Its name
is windows life mail. Now, I know that outlook 2007 and 2010 does work with
windows 7. Maybe you should upgrade.

        Dear all,

I am using windows XP SP3 and outlook 2003. I have configured my Gmail
account exactly as stated in Gmail help. I receive the incoming mails, but I
can not send anything, without any kind of error message! Any suggestions?

(I have imported the settings from OE, and then modified it to the ones
in gmail help.)

I really prefer to use OE, but I am switching to windows 7 soon. So I
am looking for a well accessible counterpart for OE. Can OE be installed on
windows 7, instead of windows mail?

        Any suggestions/comments is greatly appreciated.

        Cheers!

        Hamid
