Just to say that AVG 8 isn't impossible to use, even though if you don't
have the latest update version of Jaws 9, you have to fool around as I
described in order to launch it in order to adjust something or run a manual
scan. But even that shouldn't be too big a deal. It's not as if it's an
application you have to launch and use every day.

I just say this to encourage people not to panic and give up on AVG if they
don't necessarily want to go shopping for other antivirus programs and take
time learning to use them. No objection to those who are excited about
Avast! or are religious believers in the superiority of Nod 32. Nodding is
good. Napping is good. I'm not arguing about any of that. Just saying don't
avoid even trying AVG Free Edition Version 8 just because people got all
whacked out and started saying it "didn't work," which sometimes wasn't
exactly clear what they meant by that. The AVG sky isn't really falling.

The following information was posted by a list member on the blindtech
discussion list. This is good news for those who are using AVG 7.5 and for
some reason cannot use version 8. You will have plenty of time to find an
alternative anti-virus program.

Apparently, we on this list were wrong about AVG 7.5 ending updates at the
end of May. Here is the link to the AVG Free Forum which states that AVG
7.5 Free will be updated until the end of this year.
