Sorry if I came across as argumentative. But nnot all of us have the latest version of JAWS, so compatibility with ABG is an issue of some concern. I just don't want to download ABG 8.0 only to discover that it doesn't work well with JAWS 8.0. . ----- Original Message ----- From: "Yardbird" <yardbird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi Gerald, Why did you think I was arguing? Look at the tone of my message again. Ididn't put down anyone for making any decision they felt like making, did I? jus said it's nothing to freak out about. You have to jump through a bit of a hoop no matter what software you're navigating with Jaws, you know. That'sjust part of the deal. And if you have the latest Jaws update, as I do, there isn't much in the way of hoops to deal with at all, in fact it's simpler than version 7.5 because of the combined interface replacing two separate ones. it's just not a big deal. I don't see what I said thatinspired you to make a cry of protest or something. Do whatever you wish todo for your antivirus solution. I have no issue with whatever your preference may be. Honest! Okay? Thanks for understanding.----- Original Message ----- From: "Gerald Levy" <bwaylimited@xxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, June 02, 2008 12:06 PM Subject: Re: AVG 7.5 Why should any of us have to jump through hoops to use ABG 8.0? There's absolutely nothing wrong with 7.5, so anyone who updated to 8.0 really got screwed over big time. I'll worry about updating to 8.0 when and if 7.5 stops working. I have better things to do than to stay up nights worrying about computer security.----- Original Message ----- From: "Yardbird" <yardbird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, June 02, 2008 1:56 PM Subject: Re: AVG 7.5Just to say that AVG 8 isn't impossible to use, even though if you don't have the latest update version of Jaws 9, you have to fool around as I described in order to launch it in order to adjust something or run a manual scan. But even that shouldn't be too big a deal. It's not as if it's an application you have to launch and use every day. I just say this to encourage people not to panic and give up on AVG if they don't necessarily want to go shopping for other antivirus programs and take time learning to use them. No objection to those who are excited aboutAvast! or are religious believers in the superiority of Nod 32. Nodding isgood. Napping is good. I'm not arguing about any of that. Just saying don't avoid even trying AVG Free Edition Version 8 just because people got all whacked out and started saying it "didn't work," which sometimes wasn't exactly clear what they meant by that. The AVG sky isn't really falling. awhat thatan antibviyochange a menu ite4msalthogh----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard sherman" <squirman@xxxxxxxxxx>To: "JFW Discussion List" <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, June 02, 2008 10:32 AM Subject: AVG 7.5 The following information was posted by a list member on the blindtechdiscussion list. This is good news for those who are using AVG 7.5 and forsome reason cannot use version 8. You will have plenty of time to find an alternative anti-virus program. *****Apparently, we on this list were wrong about AVG 7.5 ending updates at theend of May. Here is the link to the AVG Free Forum which states that AVG 7.5 Free will be updated until the end of this year. http://freeforum.avg.com/read.php?1,123812,backpage=,sv -- JFW related links: JFW homepage: http://www.freedomscientific.com/ Scripting mailing list: http://lists.the-jdh.com/listinfo.cgi/scriptography-the-jdh.com JFW List instructions: To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
