OK there is one thing I forgot to mention and that is we are using office
2007.
It does sound like its a config issue and not jfw which im my mind is
encouraging.

I use Outlook 2003 and as long as the person's calendar I want to see is
either made public or I'm on the list allowed to view I don't have a
problem. Outlook is a bit touchy at times. I have viewing privileges for
my bosses calendar but I don't want editing rights.
So I would start with the calendar that needs to be seen and make sure your
person is on that list.
