Well, suppose somewhat off topic, but for now only really have two small dice rolling thingies that really just ask you max/min values, and the one is a standalone .net app making use of Jamal's saytools to speak using your screenreaders voice, and the other one is that small client side webpage have just sent link to, and it's also really simple. What could do quite easily is get a list of relatively standard dice combo's and put them in a form of drop down box, including slightly different prompt/result text, and if you then still selected a custom item, it would ask you for min/max values anyway, and go from there - the joke is when I do things like this in windows development areas, it works, but takes a bit of time, but when I then think of redoing it in a webpage, it takes a 10th of the time and generally works fine. For example, you can also check out: http://www.blindza.co.za/drums/ Also, with regard to RPG, currently playing with my friends: http://www.runequest.za.org/ Anyway, will go have a look at the grab bag, and see how it goes from there - thanks. I don't have any "great wisdoms" to share nor an answer to the questions you asked, but I do have a page with information for jaws scripter and some links to materials and folks who can assist you on my grab bag site, (URL under my name as usual). as to the random number generator, I have a couple dice rollers, one simple one I made myself for single dice rolls, but would be interested in what you created since my best unit probably won't continue to work when I finally upgrade to windows 7. but... if it works in vista, it will in win 7 so am looking for new rollers (I'm a role playing game player myself, D and D, GURPS, Palladium, White Wolf, Shadowrun 4th edition, starwars first edition from west end games (bought out by wizards of the coast blast it!),and a couple others) what I need is one like my original, which you can type in 2d6 and roll those and get either a separate dice roll read out, or that plus a total, or two differing dice such as 2d6 1d12 and get the results of those either way. it can also let you build your own dice, and/or configure the dice rolled under a name such as "character name swordHit") or "character name bowDamage" and when you type it in and enter it will roll the correct amount of dice for that weapon, and add in any bonuses such as a +10 to hit, and give you the answer in the readout list box. the one I have that is like this, which I used in dice games like dragon dice also, (bought the dice, built my armies, then setup the roller with the assorted groups and what the dice rolled (oops', forgot to mention that as a part of the custom dice building layout, it would allow you to enter text as the result instead of a number for the side of a die), anyway, would you let me know what you put together? as stated I am quite interested, inthane proprietor, The Grab Bag, for blind computer users and programmers http://grabbag.alacorncomputer.com Owner: Alacorn Computer Enterprises "own the might and majesty of a Alacorn!" www.alacorncomputer.com Owner: Agemtree "merchants in fine facetted and cabochon gemstones" www.agemtree.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jacob Kruger" <Jacob.Kruger@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jawsscripts@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, July 27, 2009 3:48 AM Subject: [jawsscripts] Hullo there etc. >I used to be on this list a long time ago, but am only recently sort of >starting to get into actually try to do something with jaws scripts, and >therefore got back on list now. > FWIW, I used to generally be a .Net developer, and while used to mostly > work on webpages, I am now, apart from PHP/MySQL development generally > done using TextPal, or EdSharp also looking into things like general > windows development, and recently newish things like WPF (windows > presentation foundation), which is specifically why now looking into jaws > scripting since it doesn't currently get very well rendered (for want of a > better word), but anyway... > > While now testing/playing around with jaws scripting, I'm also looking > into one or two other small things, and, for example, wondering how you > would do something like generate a random number since have already put > together another stand alone app to allow me to roll dice in varying > ranges, but would expect to be able to have a function to generate random > numbers in jaws scripting as well, but can't find it so far. > > Lastly, currently using jaws 10.xxx on various windows XP pro machines. > > Stay well > Jacob Kruger > Blind Biker > Skype: BlindZA > '...fate had broken his body, but not his spirit...' > > > __________ > Visit and contribute to The JAWS Script Repository http://jawsscripts.com > > View the list's information and change your settings at > //www.freelists.org/list/jawsscripts > __________ Visit and contribute to The JAWS Script Repository http://jawsscripts.com View the list's information and change your settings at //www.freelists.org/list/jawsscripts No virus found in this incoming message.
