Hi all,
I'm using Word 2010 with Windows 7 and JAWS 2020. This is an upgrade
from JAWS 14, which, as we know, is quite a leap.
My job uses templates that contain edit-type form fields as markers to
tell us where to start transcribing dictation. In JAWS 14, this only
read like an ordinary field, instead of acting like its own edit
control. The problem I have in 2020 is that these typing fields pretty
much freeze jaws to the point of rendering it useless when I focus on
these fields either with an arrow key or with F11 or shift+F11.
Sometimes Word crashes as well.
I was hoping for some thoughts on possible ways to get the old behavior
back with scripting. I've poured over the Word scripts and the
apparently newly available Word object function script source file to no
avail on how or whether it's even possible to proceed. Because this is
Word 2010, JAWS 2020 switches to the WordClassic script set and uses the
WordClassic and OfficeClassic object function scripts. If anyone would
shed some light on this issue, I'd be much obliged, as for the time
being I have to switch back to JAWS 14 to do my job.
