I actually think this is the wrong way to go. Microsoft need to tidy up and standardise their interface.they probably need to make sure that shortcut keys make sense and are easy to remember Cheers Graham Graham Page Home Phone: 0207 265 9493 Mobile: 07753 607980 Fax: 0870 706 2773 Email: <mailto:gpage@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> gpage@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx MSN: <mailto:gabriel_mcbird@xxxxxxxxxxx> gabriel_mcbird@xxxxxxxxxxx Skype: gabriel_mcbird From: jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jaws-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Val Sent: 09 August 2010 16:03 To: jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: question on the accessibility of microsoft office 2007 with jaws 11.0.1461 Another two peneth re Office 2007. I too installed Office 2007 when it first came out but soon reinstalled 2003 as I found the upper and lower ribbons very difficult to navigate and extremely confusing. However, at Sight Village recently in Birmingham, some features of JAWS 12 were demonstrated, amongst which is a "fix" which makes the ribbon system in 2007/10 behave almost like the old menus in 2003, etc. That excited me very much and I can't wait now until about november for the new JAWS to be released. Small things excite me and I now can't wait to get my teeth into 2007/10. And yes, Office 2007 can handle office 2003 formats. The problem is that switching to Office 2007 is a bit of a learning curb. I personally tried it a while ago and I did not like it a bit. I ended up reinstalling my old 2003 copy and giving away my newly at the time purchased copy of 2007. I believe that many users, VI and sighted too, share me this sentiment. Having said that, your experience with Office 2007 might well be totally different from mine. And if I am honest we are talking Office 2010 now so I am not sure for how much longer one can resist upgrading to the later versions of MS Office versions. Lastly, there is a compatibility pack for Office 2003 which you can download from MS site itself that enables it to handle Office 2007 formats. Only my two pence worth!
