Yvonne, you choose the required keyboard layout by going to the JAWS options
menu and selecting Basics ...
Then press Alt-L which takes you to a combobox called, Use Keyboard Layout.
Select the one required, and hit OK.

Cheers.

John

hello Amro
thank you for reply
when i was sighted i found a laptop keyboard easy to use and locate the
keys.
however since going blind this is not as easy for me now.
i find that when i go to press a key on a laptop keyboard thinking it is in
the same place as a standard 101 keyboard i find i hit the wrong character.
net books are even worse especially when i go to find the navigation keys.
probably because net books have 2 extra keys 1 either side of the up down
left and right keys also referred to as an upside down t.
now you say about setting jaws to laptop keyboard mode.
if i did that will all the keys on this keyboard that i am using to type
this email still work in the same way?
or will they work in the position they are on a laptop.
and as a matter of interest how do i change the keyboard layout.
i know not much about using jaws and even less when it comes to configuring
and jaws set up modes.
Yvonne

LOL! I've been a Jaws user for ten years and I never knew that the zero
button doubles as the Jaws key!! With this revelation the Jaws desktop
layout makes sense! Well, sort off still! LOL!

Yvonne, switch to laptop layout then you can use the caps lock button as the
Jaws key as well.

I know I said this before, but I really still don't know why Jaws has a
desktop layout. With the laptop layout you return all the functionality of
the desktop layout, but in addition, you can use the caps lock as the Jaws
key. Using caps lock and the insert keys as the Jaws key makes using the
keyboard much easier. Think of the Jaws key and f7 or f11... at least that
what I think!

Best,
Amro

Subject: [jaws-uk] jaws key change

hi
i would like to change the jaws key to something else as i use the numeric
keypad frequently.
i keep forgetting to change from num loc on and off.
can someone tell me how to change the key?
and of course can it be reversed back to the zero on the numeric keypad if i
feel this was not such a good idea to change it.
1 last question is there any keys i can't use?
i would like to use the caps lock key as this is rarely used for anything
thank you

Yvonne

Hi everybody, re the recent post about inability to access the ice grips
page on the blacktoe website. I assume the person is using IE8. If you add
the site to compatibility view in the tools menu it works fine.
                    John.
