Hi Susan,
Generally there is no reason that you shouldn't be able to open a PDF
document if you've got the Adobe Acrobat software installed. However, the
level of accessibility of the PDF is another issue.
If you mean that the file simply won't open, you probably need to download
and install the software mentioned above. If it is opening but you can't
access the contents, you can try a couple of things.
Which version of Jaws do you have? If it is 2022, you should get a message
that tells you that the document appears not to be readable and asks you if
you want Jaws to OCR the document. If you say Yes, this will have a go at
scanning it and giving you the results.
Another thing to try is to highlight the file in File Explorer and press
Shift+F10 to get the Context menu. Scroll down to find an item that is
something like "Convenient OCR for use with Jaws" and press Enter. That
might work also.
Give it a try anyway.
