hi phil

we can get as far as control shift d, in the instructions you gave us then it keeps going back to the desk top and and reads out the icomms there and says "windows...j c f - jaws configuration manager desk top folder view list view not selected my documents one of fourteen to move to items use the arrow keys file file edit view ect". then if we proceed on to insert s, it will one time it will say all then the next time we go in to it again it says none, then when we hit s on it's own nothing is said by jaws, nor is any thing said if i try to tab to eliquence.

all this happens either when i am in word or outlook express it doesn't matter.
as usual i am sure this is just me not doing some thing right.

Hi Joe,

I think that your time and punctuation problems are down to the same thing,
namely, your punctuation setting being set to all.

To check if this is the case:

1. insert+v to get the temporary settings options.

2. type the letter p until you hear the word punctuation. After the word
punctuation, you should hear either none, some, most or all. I think that
your setting is all.

3. Press the space bar to change the setting to anything you wish other
than all, tab to the close button and hit enter.

This solution is just temporary and will revert when you switch windows but
if it helps, you can make the change permanent as follows:

1. Press insert+6 on the top row to invoke the configuration manager.

2. Press control+shift+d to ensure that you are changing the default
configuration.

3. Press insert+s followed by s to invoke the synthesiser options tab.

4. Tab to the Eloquence punctuation item and cursor up or down to change
the selection to something other than all.

5. Tab to the ok button and activate it.

6. Press alt+f4 to close the configuration manager and type y to accept
changes when asked.

I hope this helps,

Phil Medway.

hi all

another problem,

when typing an e mail or in word and using an apostrophe jaws actually says
apostrophe, I don't know whether or not it has been put in between the
letters or not, but as I say it just says the word apostrophe where the
apostrophes should be.

I am sure it's just some thing to do with the punctuations settings, could
some one please tell me how to correct this.

hope this makes sense.

many thanks

Joe
