If I were investigating my options now I would look at system access.  £270 
with upgrades free for the first year then £70 after that.

Apparently this can do messenger email and web browsing.  Not sure what 
else.

I would also investigate the Mac screen reader called Voice over of which 
there will be a new one in the new year.  This comes built into the OS.  Not 
sure how good this second one will be.  The first one was a good start but 
needs more work.  This would also mean learning a new operating system.
