[jaws-uk] Re: Strange Shifted State

Kevin,

Just an idea here but I noticed that within the Control Panel, the Accessibility options, even though the things like Sticky keys and Filter keys are supposedly turned off, I still get the damned things coming up.

I went into the settings for each of these and turned off the short cut for all of them. So far I have not come across the original problem again.

I just wonder if the accessibility features were indeed getting turned on even though they appear to be set to off? It's worth double checking this anyway.

Cheers,

Jamie

Just to add to this thread, I also have the issue whereby the control key
appears to remain pressed.

This only happens when I use the alt + control key which is immediately to
the right of the spacebar. I use this in combination with letters as a
shortcut key for certain applications such as alt control + W to launch
word. A tap on the control key sorts it out immediately but just thought it
worth mentioning as this is not a random issue; it can be replicated every
time if this key to the right of the spacebar is used. This is using JAWS
4.5.1.

Hi

I am getting this problem and have been for a long time.

At work using 5.1 on 2000 on a network, I get the symptom where my shift key
is stuck down, a press on the shift key cures it. I have had this problem
with earlier versions of jaws and also have had my keyboard changed with no
success.

At home using 6.1 with XP Home I occasionally get a problem where my Windows
key appears to be stuck down, this is not very often but it certainly messes
me up on a particular website. When I press the tab key on this site I am
thrown into a search box and am out of the original site and I noticed that
every key that I pressed was preceded with the windows key.

Hi Tim,

I'm using the latest version of 6.1 with XP home on the machine where I
notice this problem most.

I also have XP pro and 2000 on other machines which I use less often but
will try to take note and report back if it happens on these other machines.

Norman,

Have you downloaded the update to JFW6.1, which was posted I think on the
15th April. This is supposed to have cured a number of problems, though I'm

not sure if this is one of them.

I haven't noticed this problem with either version, and have so far been
impressed with version 6.1 (both versions).

Tim Pennick

Can anyone add to or comment on this problem: every so often with JAWS 6.1
in IE, the keyboard seems to go into a shifted state in which every key
pressed is spoken as "control" + the key. Pressing control by itself cures
the problem, but only temporarily. Sometimes the confusion is eventually
cleared up and the problem goes away; sometimes I have to reboot.

I don't think I had the problem with JAWS 6.0.

Cheers,

Norman
