Norton always appears to have and cause more problems than I care to mention. AVG is a well respected program as are the others you mention. However, in terms of Spyware, I believe Microsoft's offering is still the only one which works interactively with a regular automatic update capability. Others need to be manually updated and run on a regular basis. One of the biggest problems I find from where I sit on technical support, is that many people do not fully appreciate how important it is to keep their overall systems up to date. Microsoft themselves frequently issue Critical Updates which plug newly found holes in the system. The anti-virus and anti-spyware people also produce frequent updates. Two or three days is a very long time in this business, especially with hackers and such like constantly trying to wreak havoc. I ask as have had serious problem with Spy ware, Trojans etc that resulted in my pc being taken away and nuked by a friend - he works in IT and said he'd never come across such malicious spy ware, it was a zombie that kept coming back to life once you thought you'd killed it. Anyway the problem is solved but has prompted me to think about whether I need different security solution. I currently use AVG free 7 antivirus, Win Up firewall, MS Antispyware programme and occasionally run adaware. I know there is tuff out there that says it can do all this in one but was wondering whether there's any benefits in terms of either overall security or Jaws-usability. Am using all this on a Win XP home machine with Jaws 6.1.
