Thanks anyway, Neil. Got the web pages reading beautifully now.
I must read the hot keys in future!
Best wishes,
Ooops! Sorry Joan. The insert key is not needed; When on a web page simply press n on it's own to move to the next non-link text. (So long as you are not in forms-mode). I obviously didn't put enough salt in my porridge this morning!
Cheers,
Neil.
Thanks all.
Yes, I think that will make the difference. Just shows I don't keep up to date with new hot keys. (smile)
Best wishes,
Joan. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robin Clayden" <r.clayden@xxxxxxxxx> To: <jaws-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, April 21, 2005 11:52 AM Subject: [jaws-uk] Re: Skip Past links on webpage
Hi Joan,
I've found that hitting the letter N is fairly reliable in this concept, as it looks for the next specified block of characters.
In the config, under html options, text page, the default setting is 25 characters for a length of text block, so hitting the letter N is going to take you to that point, which is very often the first main heading or the beginning of the first main sentence.
You could tweak up this setting to perhaps give you a bit more reliability, but, not too much.
Hth, Robin.

Joan,
The Jaws key combo relies on an internal page link being present on the page already. Jaws simply looks for a link of this kind and moves to the
destination point. It can't accomplish the same trick if there is nothing in the code to assist it.

Hi, Folks,
I am finding that insert +enter doesn't take me to the main body of a web page. I thought this was the keystroke to bypass links and get to the main content?
Can anyone advise me how to get there past the blurb please?
Best wishes,
Joan.
