Ah, interesting. I'm using Outlook 2016 and JAWS 18. It's frustrating when
different things do different things for different people!
Ctrl+shift+F6 luckily for me seems to do the same as ctrl+Y and works in the
draft folder too.
Anyway the issue was being able to  navigate out of the draft folder. Ctrl+Y
works but just not in the draft folder. I found I had to close Outlook and
reopen it again to get myself back to my inbox.
So if your having the exact same issue. Try ctrl+shift+I as suggested by Lu.
For me it nicely takes me back to my inbox when in the draft folder.
Best - Sue.

Thanks Steve and Sue,
Unfortunately it doesn't work for me, using JAWS V17.
In fact, Control-Shift-F6 muted my computer.
More later once I've checked JAWS and Outlook hotkeys for omissions and
clashes.
Enormous best,
Howard

Brillant, thanks Steve. Yep this seems to work all OK for me too. It seems
like both sets of function keys do exactly the same job ... I can navigate
all folders with ctrl+shift+F6 but for some odd reason ctrl+Y doesn't like
the draft folder. I guess it's not a major issue but does get irritating!
I wasn't aware of ctrl+shift+F6 doing the same job and glad I asked, but I
will be using it from now on.
Many thanks - Sue.

Hi Sue and Howard

Try using Ctrol+Shift+f6 to access your folder list. Not sure what the
difference is but it seems to work slightly differently and does not have
any hang ups. At least not for me.

Steve

Hi Sue,

I have similar problems, with no solutions I'm afraid.

Perhaps this (below) may be helpful, but not immediately:
Office Accessibility Centre:

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Office-Accessibility-Center-Resourc
es-for-people-with-disabilities-ecab0fcf-d143-4fe8-a2ff-6cd596bddc6d?ui=en-U
S&rs=en-US&ad=US

I've recently sent a general message about accessing Health Records via
JAWS.

It's equally valid to ask if folk find email systems OK via JAWS too - as
accessing GP services online and via email is a related component.

I'm not overly happy with JAWS, nor with our UK suppliers.

I think it's in 'panic mode' as screen-readers built into operating systems
are becoming much better, and most folk are using mobiles and tablets
instead of laptops.

We will see while I push with NHS colleagues, the British Computer Society
and the Government Digital Service (who, incidentally, require testing of
services with JAWS as part of it's 'design manual' (accessibility section).

Extra best,
Howard

Subject: [jaws-uk] Outlook 2016 Folders

Hi all,

I'm using Outlook 2016 with latest version of JAWS.

I have a bit of an issue in accessing my folders. It's not a major issue
just a bit irritating .

If I press control plus Y I can see my folders and select the one I want.
For example I can be in my inbox press control plus Y and then swop to my
sent folder. I can do this for any of my folders and then swop back to my
inbox.

However, if I do control plus Y and change to my draft folder. I can do
everything I wish to do in my draft, but I'm unable to navigate out of this
folder.

When I press control plus Y in my draft folder nothing happens and I can't
get out of it or navigate back to my inbox. I have to close Outlook and
reopen just so I can get back to my inbox.

Anyone else have this issue or know how to resolve it?

Many thanks - Sue.
