To be totally honest since I've been using for a while I can't even remember how I found this out, but I haven't read much of help either because most things seem quite intuitive to me just by examining the settings.

Hello,

you can access settings of the program by pressing f 5. There you can
configure most things, otherwise like you said, you can use jaws cursor and 
it is possible to do rest of the things that way, but f 5 will take you to
settings where most can be managed from there.
