[jaws-uk] How to read text at mouse position

Hi all,

I'm trying to use a particularly awkward bit of software which seems to
use some strange controls/code to implement tabs on the screen.

Most of the controls work fine, but several of the main ones import,
export, settings, backup etc just won't work with Jaws.
I know where the controls are, they are on a line just above a line JAWS
reads ok, but the line containing all the control tabs is blank.
I've tried using the JAWS keystroke to move the mouse up i.e
shift+alt+cursor up, and a sighted friend says that the mouse will move
up onto the invisible control tab line, butJAWS still won't read
anything or show anything on the Braile display.

Is there a JAWS command to read text/graphics at the mouse position?
I've tried the usual read at cursor/Jaws cursor commands but get nothing.

Ironically once a sighted friend clicks the mouse on the relevant
control JAWS happily reads all the text/controls within the screen
associated with the tab.

I'm running JAWS 13 on Windows 7.

n.b JAWS convenient OCR doesn't work either.

any suggestions welcome.

Thanks

gary
