I can understand them dropping support for Windows SP1 more in many ways.

Sp2 is free once you have SP1 so why would anyone stick with SP1 anyway?

Windows XP Service Pack 1

George, I take your point, and ask, what support does anyone get
anyway? But XP SP1 must only be about 3 years old. I remember there
was such an outcry when they tried this trick with Win 95 that it was
delayed a long time. Let's hope this happens again. Win 95/98 are far
easier to play with than XP.
