Hi George I've had a little play around with forms in Word using the help you suggested and I am even more depressed about getting to grips with forms data than I was before. It seems that in order for Jaws to interact with form fields, the form must be protected but if you protect it, you can't roam around the document using the PC cursor because it wont read anything and you have to use the Jaws cursor, which reads all sorts of other rubbish on the Word window as well as the bits you want. Word documents here are for the most part, standard readable text with a few check boxes and edit fields thrown in, so they cannot realistically be classed as forms. I've tried protecting the document I'm currently struggling with and reading it is absolutely hopeless. I am really surprised that there is no keystroke to check/uncheck a check box in an unprotected form because if I can access and change the default value property via the dialogs, surely it can be done via a Jaws script or maybe a Word macro. It looks great in print, but no use otherwise. May I suggest you study the Section in the Jaws Help files about creating forms using JAWS. Then show that to the people who design the forms, and explain your problem. Once they get it right, you will be able to use the space bar to check and uncheck a box.
