Do you know if they have addressed the issue with web publishing not
passing the real client info to the webserver (that causes us to use
server publishing for http to get anything good out of webtrends)?

There was a bug in the SMTP filter that caused SP1 to be recalled.
It'll be back as soon as the QFE team is happy with the fix.
