Hi Dan,

What I'll do when I get back into my office is trace the following:

* Autodiscovery
* Manual Autoconfig script setting
* Manual Web proxy setting
* Firewall client setting the Web proxy setting (however, which one
should I set this to, since you can configure the FWC to configure the
Web proxy client to use autoconfig script, autodiscovery, or Web proxy
server address).

True, the "only" reason I might be inclined to believe them is because
disabling those settings does have an immediate and obvious effect. I'd
love to get to the bottom of this, because it sure is causing us a lot
of grief. It seems like a straight-forward setup, but doesn't appear to
be working as expected.

If you need any further information/diagnostics, I can duplicate this
issue quite easily, and I'm more than willing to help out whatever way I
can.

Hi Dan,

I don't want to accuse someone of being FoS until I've double checked,
but it does sound like you got a "just in time" answer from them, or
they weren't communicating things very clearly. Even when the FWC
configures the browser, it should make no difference at all, since it
just setting the browser to be a FWC. My understanding it that the
problem is that if the browser isn't configured as a Web proxy client
(regardless of how that's done), then the Firewall client connects to
Web sites using the Web proxy filter bound to the HTTP protocol, but for
some reason, doesn't get passed to the SurfControl Web filter.
