Hi Dan, I don't want to accuse someone of being FoS until I've double checked, but it does sound like you got a "just in time" answer from them, or they weren't communicating things very clearly. Even when the FWC configures the browser, it should make no difference at all, since it just setting the browser to be a FWC. My understanding it that the problem is that if the browser isn't configured as a Web proxy client (regardless of how that's done), then the Firewall client connects to Web sites using the Web proxy filter bound to the HTTP protocol, but for some reason, doesn't get passed to the SurfControl Web filter. Firewall Client could be the common denominator in this, in that (like I posted earlier) the auto-detect from ISA to the FWC puts extra information into the packet header, making it unreadable by SurfControl. I haven't tested this myself though, just taking SurfControl's word on it. ________________________________ From: Thomas W Shinder [mailto:tshinder@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, March 24, 2005 12:13 To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: possible fix http://www.ISAserver.org Hi Ara, OK, sounds like we have two different issues. One is Firefox and one is the Firewall client. What I don't think makes sense is that not enabling autodetect or manual autoconfig script would somehow change the Web proxy client config. If you look at the traces, you'll see they're exactly the same except for the DNS query or DHCPINFORM. Thanks!
