why does he have to be using outlook, there are other email clients out
their that work well (better than outlook IMO) in certain modes ie imap
etc.

 You assume that he is using and exchange server and hence running outlook
in MAPI mode which may or may not be the case. This is not a great point
in itself but typical of the narrowminded dribble that sometimes appears
to be generated from the vicinty of your email address. (allegedly :) )

This may come accross as a right royal dig at you and it is on a small
scale but its a point i am trying to get accross these days. The
assumption that many people make that everything runs in a or on (their)
SOE and the "if i can do it why cant they" mentality. I have come accross
many things i cant natively acheive in a windows environment that i can in
a linux world, mail is a good example. As good as the MS software is in
some respects dont be fooled that it tells you the whole story or gives
you full functionality over something else.
