Ha! Would think of asking you about that one :-)

Good to hear you got it working and thanks for the follow up!

Tom

I resolved the problem so though I would update.

It was too simple. I needed to enter the username of account authorized
to join the domain as domain\username instead of just username.

I thought this might be a case for NE, thanks for your input. I'm sure
I'll be back as I work my way through this implemention and continue
administering these firewalls. Yes they are firewalls.

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Hi Peter,

I have a 6300 joined to the domain and haven't run into that issue. I
know that Network Engines does a lot ot harden the box, so it might be
the hardening process broke something, or perhaps some security settings
in the domain GPO? Or maybe something else entirely different. I salute
you for joining the firewall to the domain, but I think you're going to
need to get Network engines support to cipher this one out.

Subject: [isalist] Trouble joining Domain

http://www.ISAserver.org <http://www.isaserver.org/>

Good Afternoon,
I'm new to this list and new to ISA having just purchased two Network
Engines NS6300 appliances. I've been working my way through Configuring
ISA
2004. I'm having a problem that may be specific to to the NE product but

I'll ask here.
I can't get the server to join the domain. The error is "Failed to join
the
domain. Unable to update the password. The value provided as the current

password is incorrect." I had previously been getting domain not
accessible
errors that were resolved after I created the proper routes to the
internal
network.
Additional info. I can do an nslookup of the domain name and return the
proper internal IP address. Ping domain name resolves the DC address and

works.
I believe I understand the pro's and con's of having the ISA server a
domain member and the pro's for me outweigh the con's.
Thanks
Peter Hotchkiss
