  That again depends on what you're trying to setup.  I believe that you need a 
separate DNS for external IP address and your internal IP addresses.

  They should not be on the same machine for security reasons.

    Luis,

    AD is a requirement only if you want to configure ISA arrays.  You can
    configure a stand-alone ISA member without AD.
