Are there other machines on the same LAN with the Deep Freeze machines? -----Original Message----- From: Ball, Dan [mailto:DBall@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, January 13, 2006 9:11 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] OT: DeepFreeze http://www.ISAserver.org A bit off-topic, but most people on this list are very security conscience, so thought you guys could give a good input. A lot of the school districts are using a program call Deep Freeze. For those of you unfamiliar with it, it basically "freezes" a copy of Windows in whatever state it is in when frozen. Then, when the computer is rebooted, it restores everything to its frozen state, wiping out everything changed since last boot. The part that bothers me is that these schools are under the impression that they have no need for updates or virus scanning programs because the computer will be restored when rebooted anyways. What is your take on this? In "some" ways, they have a valid point... ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Visit TechGenix.com for more information about our other sites: http://www.techgenix.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: bunting@xxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
