An interesting principle, and one I have heard before. To ease administration of machines, I can imagine this saves a lot of work. From a security point of view, however, I'd rather add updates to the frozen build to ensure the build itself is up-to-date. Though the restoration might remove any unwanted code, any code that'd alter the build or affect the Deep Freeze software would rather spoil all the fun. More thoughts on this when I have more time. A lot of the school districts are using a program call Deep Freeze. For those of you unfamiliar with it, it basically "freezes" a copy of Windows in whatever state it is in when frozen. Then, when the computer is rebooted, it restores everything to its frozen state, wiping out everything changed since last boot. The part that bothers me is that these schools are under the impression that they have no need for updates or virus scanning programs because the computer will be restored when rebooted anyways. What is your take on this? In "some" ways, they have a valid point... ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Visit TechGenix.com for more information about our other sites: http://www.techgenix.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: paul.van.geldrop@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx This e-mail and any attachment is for authorised use by the intended recipient(s) only.
